William Beeson Barker, son of Beeson and Mary Barker, was born Sept. 14, 1842 in Morgan county, Indiana. Came to Iowa in 1855.

Served in Company H, 4th Iowa Infantry Volunteer Army till July 2, 1862, discharged and joined Company H. 23rd Iowa Volunteer Infantry. He was wounded at Big Black River Bridge in 1863.

He was married on Sept. 6, 1866 in Madison county, Iowa to Celestia Iona Lee, daughter of William Danton & Eliza Lee. They had 5 children: Leonardas, Artis, Sylvia C, Lester, and Merle. They farmed in Iowa, eventually moving to Lamar and later Denver, Colorado.

Around 1915 he moved to California where his son Merle lived. He was admitted to the Pacific Branch D.V.S. in February 1922 where he resided until his death on April 24, 1924.

He was returned to Denver, Colorado where he was buried beside his wife Celestia at the Fairmount cemetery.
