Services for Eleanor M. Flora, 74, former Earlham resident who died of a heart attack in Florida July 7, were held July 12 at Tampa, Fla., at the First United Methodist Church at Pinellas Park, Fla. Interment was at the All Faiths Cemetery at St. Petersburg, Fla.
Born March 3, 1915 at Earlham, she was the daughter of Ethel and Charles Benson and graduated from Earlham High School and Simpson College. She did graduate work at the University of Iowa and taught high school at Baxter and Dallas Center. She was also a librarian at Anson Junior High School in Marshalltown.
On Feb. 14, 1942, she was married to Wilbur J. Flora and after World War II the couple resided at the family farm near Rhoades, where she was active in the Congregational Church and Federated Women’s Club.
Surviving are three children: Mrs. Robert T. Hill III (Julie) of Miami, Fla., Mrs. S. Richard Rubin (Suzanne) of Atlanta, Ga., and Edward C. Flora of Rhodes; six grandchildren and a sister, Marie Benson Fagen of Dexter.
Mrs. Flora and her husband retired to the Mainlands Unit III at Pinellas Park, where she was active in the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She also served as president of the Pi Beta Phi club of St. Petersburg. She was a member of Chapter D. L., PEO; the DAR and the St. Petersburg Panhellenic Association.
Preceding her in death was her husband in April 17, 1980. Mrs. Fagen flew to Florida to attend the services.
