Horrible Accident

Peru Mail: --Peru was stricken dumb Wednesday when a telegram from St. Joe stated that Harve Lilley was killed there at or near 12 o’clock, by a switch engine in the yards, where Harve was at work with his helpers repairing a water main. His brother George, Ves Emerson and Ben Gifford left on No. 5 for St. Joe and brought the body home Thursday morning.

Harve was a man who knew no fear and would dare to do what other men shrank from undertaking. He was a man liked by all who knew him, and whose friends were many, and we believe without an enemy; a faithful friend, a generous neighbor, always ready to help in time of sickness or trouble. He always had a pleasant smile and kind word for everyone he met. He was a loving son and brother, a kind and affectionate husband, an indulgent father, who loved his home and home ties.

Harve Lilley will be missed every where in Peru but most of all in that home made so desolate by his untimely demise. Let the prayers of all go out for the aged mother and the wife, upon whose shoulders now rests the whole care of the little daughters, Gretchen and Edith, that they may be given strength and courage for the work. “She has heard a voice—‘tis the voice of her God, I love thee, I love thee, pass under the rod.”
