Local News

Elizure Baker died at his home in Jefferson township last Monday. Mr. Baker was an old and honored resident of this county and will be missed by his many friends. The funeral occurred Monday at the U.B. church and interment was made in the church cemetery.

Elizir H. Baker was born in Jefferson county, Wisconsin, May 5, 1860, and died at his home in Jefferson township, Madison county, Ia, Nov. 10, 1913, aged 53 years, 6 months and 5 days.

He removed with his father to Iowa at the age of nineteen and has made this his home ever since. He was married to Jennie Poffinbarger April 18, 1899. To this union, one child, Gladys, was born. Besides the wife and daughter, he leaves to mourn his loss, one sister and three brothers.

He was converted in early life and has been a faithful Christian ever since. He united with the U.B. church a number of years ago and was a member at the time of his death.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. R. Raber at the North River U.B. church Wednesday afternoon and the body laid to rest in the church cemetery.

Jesus says, “I am the resurrection and the life. If any man believe in me, though he be dead, yet shall he live.”

Note: Burial was made in the North McDonald cemetery.
