Page 1Laura Alice, the younger daughter of Sherman Walters, was born near Winterset, Iowa, Dec. 21, 1895, and died at the home of her aunt, Mrs. C. M. McCleary in Winterset, Aug. 25, 1913, age 17 years, 8 months and 4 days. With the exception of about 18 months spent in Texas, this has been her home. Alice was a good girl, of a lovable disposition and a favorite with all who knew her. She always tried to be helpful and obliging, and during her sickness she was patient and always grateful for any kindness shown her.
On July 16th she was received into the Church of Christ, of which, before going to Texas with her father, she was a faithful attendant upon the church and bible school services.
She leaves to mourn her death, her father, a sister, Mrs. Linda E. Rehard, a brother, Glen aged 11 years and other relatives, especially her aunt, Mrs. C. M. McCleary, who during her sickness made her life so comfortable and pleasant. Her mother dying October 8, 1903, and a brother 4 years of age in March 1902.
Funeral service was held at the home Aug. 26, at 10:00 a.m., conducted by Rev. L. F. Davis and interment in the Hooten cemetery. The pall bearers were members of her Sunday school class.
