Page 4Hanged Himself
Last Monday night the lifeless body of E. E. Howell, son of Aaron Howell, was found hanging to a tree in his pasture at his home north of Patterson. Mr. Howell is a man about forty years of age and for the past year has been in failing health, which is thought to be the cause of the rash act. He leaves a wife and daughter to mourn his loss, who have the sympathy of the entire community.

Ernest E., son of Nelson and Margaret Howell, was born on October 13, 1872, in Madison county and died at his home near Patterson, August 18, 1913, aged 40 years, 7 months, 28 days.
At an early age Ernest united with the Methodist church of Patterson remaining faithful to this communion through life. The straight forward career was conductive of those things which exalt a home, a church and community.
In April 6, 1904, Ernest and Miss Pearl Folwell were united in marriage. One child, Ruth Madelle blessed this union.
The deceased leaves a wife and daughter, 6 brothers, 2 sisters, and many other relatives with a host of friends to mourn his death. We shall miss a good husband, a true friend, a kind neighbor and a patriotic citizen.
Our brother had been in failing health for more than a year. This induced despondency from which he never recovered, impelling at last to self destruction. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community.
The funeral was conducted at the Howell home on Thursday morning by Rev. F. V. Warner. The remains were laid to rest in Montpelier cemetery by the Masonic order.
