JANET CHRISTENSEN, Winterset

Janet Joy Christensen, 75, of Winterset died Sept. 18, 2010, at West Bridge Care Center in Winterset. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, Sept. 22) at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, with burial at Winterset Cemetery.

Janet Christensen was born July 17, 1935, in Bloomfield, Neb., to Ralph and Josephine Moser. She graduated high school in David City, Neb., and afterward moved to Omaha and worked for Mutual of Omaha. Janet married Gene Sobolik and moved to Lincoln, Neb. Together they had four children. On July 26, 1976, she married Don Christensen in Las Vegas. They moved to Des Moines, where she worked for Mercy Hospital for eight years as a collections supervisor. Later, she joined Preferred Medical Deposit Co. for four years. After retirement in 1993, she and Donald wintered in Las Vegas.

She is survived by her husband, Don; children – Steven Sobolik, Michael Sobolik, Patrick Sobolik, and Brenda Watke; and two step children – Neil Christensen and Kim Voshell.
