Page 5Miss Judey Blair, daughter of Alexander and Elizabeth Blair was born in Indiana, May 8, 1832 and died at her home in Winterset, Sept. 4, 1912 aged 80 years 3 months and 26 days. Her parents moved from Indiana to Madison county, Iowa in the early forties.
She was married to Samuel Snyder in 1852 and since then, Winterset has been her home. She was the mother of seven children, five daughters and two sons. One son died in early childhood. The surviving children are Mrs. Jno. Couch, Mrs. C. Koser, Mrs. W. E. Arthur, Warren Snyder, Mrs. Myles Young, Jr. and Mrs. Fred Mardis, all of whom were with her during her last illness. She also leaves one brother George Blair of Afton, and two sisters Mrs. Andrew Snyder of Winterset and Mrs. Sarah Work of Kansas.
Mrs. Snyder was a kind and indulgent wife and mother and in her home life her influence was such that though an invalid for some years, some of her children were ever at her side to comfort and care for her. Mrs. Snyder was one of the pioneers of Winterset and while few of her early acquaintances are now living, yet many of her friends of later years will mourn the loss of a kind and sympathetic friend.
The funeral occurred from the home on Friday afternoon conducted by Rev. Walburn, of the M.E. church, and she was laid to rest beside her husband in the Rock City cemetery.
