Pg 1

Ernest Nelson Chamberlain was born at Hazel Green, Delaware county, Iowa, May 21, 1887 and departed this life Aug. 20, 1912, aged 25 years and three months. At the age of ten, in a union meeting, Ernest expressed his desire to become a child of God. He was baptized and joined the United Brethren church at Monticello. In the year 1909, he came to Madison county with his parents and has since been a member of the Methodist church at Worthington.

He was always a quiet young man of upright character; a kind and loving brother and son. His sickness lasted a year. On November 22, he was operated on for a tumor at the Methodist hospital. The operation proved unsuccessful and most of the time since until a few minutes before the death angels came was spent in suffering, which he bore very patiently, believing that Jesus was able to keep him through it all.

He leaves behind a father, mother, brother, sister and a host of friends. Like the gardener who gathered in his choicest lily before the storm came so has the Heavenly Father called Ernest to his heavenly home before the storms of life came to mar his beautiful character.

Note: Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.
