Wm. Hendricks, the well known Union township farmer, died at an early hour this morning. He was in usual health yesterday, but complained during the night and one of the sons accompanied him to the porch to escape the intense heat. He soon afterwards went to sleep, and when the son woke in the night, he discovered that his father had died, and apparently from heart failure.

The deceased was a veteran of the Civil War and was 84 years old. He moved here from near Canton in Jackson county, soon after the war and located on a farm north of Winterset. His wife and ten children survive him.
