T. F. Hoff was born in Alleghany county, now Fayette county, Maine, July 1st, 1832. He came to Mahaska county, Iowa, in 1854 and from there to St. Charles, Madison county, in 1861. He was engaged in business in St. Charles for over fifty years in the undertaking and furniture business. His death occurred on April 7th, after a long and painful illness. He leaves a wife and six children by a former marriage, three sons and three daughters.

Funeral services were held at the St. Charles M. E. church on Tuesday, the 9th and burial in the cemetery at that place.

St. Charles

Thornton Hoff died at his home, Sunday night, April 7, after a lingering illness of about four months. The funeral services were held Wednesday at the M. E. church and his body was laid to rest in the St. Charles cemetery.
