The body of Rebecca Alexander was brought here on Monday for burial. Services were conducted by Rev. J. H. Stewart at two o’clock at the cemetery.

Mrs. Alexander was a resident of this city for forty years, prior to 1900, when she went to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Andy Anderson at Mason City where she died.

Mr. and Mrs. Anderson and Wm. Alexander of Des Moines came with the body. Besides these, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Alexander, E. J. and Samuel Alexander, Mr. and Mrs. H. Schoen and Mrs. Otto Koehler of Jefferson township, Mr. and Mrs. Fred and Mrs. And Mrs. Otis Alexander of Union township, and Mr. and Mrs. Austin Woods of Douglas township were in attendance.

Mrs. Rebecca Alexander, mother of Mrs. Andy Anderson died at the home of her daughter at 11:45 last night after a long illness.

Rebecca Jane Rains was born January 3d, 1829 in Highland county, Ohio, where she lived until her marriage to John C. Alexander, February 28, 1845. They then came to Iowa and located in Birmingham and later moved to Missouri, but did not remain there long until they returned to Iowa and located at Winterset where they resided for 42 years or until the death of her husband, Nov. 17, 1900. Since that time she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Andy Anderson of this city.

She was the mother of seven children of whom three of them have preceding her to the great beyond. Those left to mourn her loss are Francis M., of Ada, S.D., Joseph M., of Winterset, Iowa, William R. of Des Moines and Mabel M. Anderson of this city, at whose home she passed away April 5th at 11:45 p.m., being 82 years, 2 months and 6 days of age.

She was always known as Grandma Alexander and often in her younger days, was alluded to as the Good Samaritan. To know her was to love her as she was always cheerful and kind, and her good motherly advice has been a benefit to many. She was always led a beautiful Christian life and is a member of the Baptist church at Winterset, Iowa.---Mason City Republican.

Union and Jefferson

The body of Mrs. Alexander was shipped to Winterset Monday. The funeral services had been held at Mason City, so there were only short services at the grave. Interment in the Winterset cemetery.
