This community was shocked on Thursday to hear of the tragic death of little Ralph Ellison, three years old, who was burned so badly that he died soon after at the home of his parents, northwest of Truro. His clothing was set on fire with matches, with which he was playing.

Little Child of Mr. and Mrs. Lon Ellson Burns to Death
The three year old baby of Mr. and Mrs. Lon Ellson, living on the Mitchell farm west of Truro, was burned to death Wednesday afternoon of last week while its parents were in Truro.
Mr. and Mrs. Ellson had gone to town leaving five children at home. When it came time to do the chores the two older ones left the three smaller children, aged seven, five and three, in the house. Hearing the screams of the children they ran to the house to find the little boy a mass of flames. The older children grabbed him, put out the flames by rolling him in the snow. The clothing was nearly all burned off the child.
Dr. Hutchinson of Truro, who was called, was unable to do anything for the child as the body was burned to a crisp all over. It died about four hours after the accident. The children do not know how the clothing of the little boy got on fire.
