St. Charles

Mrs. Harl Ogburn, who has been in very poor health for the past two years, died very suddenly Monday morning. She leaves a husband, four brothers and four sisters to mourn her loss. Rev. A. W. Armstrong of Norwalk preached the funeral sermon which was held on Wednesday, Oct. 10th, after which the remains were laid to rest in the St. Charles cemetery.

Lizzie Scott was born in Madison county, Iowa, March 30, 1866, and died at her home in St. Charles, Oct. 9, 1911, aged 55 years, 6 months and 10 days. She was married to Harlan Ogburn, Sept. 1, 1886 and lived on their farm near St. Charles, until three years ago, when they moved to St. Charles, where they lived until the Master called her home.

She had been under the doctor’s care the past four years, and for the past two years a constant sufferer. She bore all her sufferings with patience, never murmuring, but always seemed cheerful and had a pleasant word for all.

She was converted at Oak Run, and united with the Friends’ church at the age of eighteen; she later united with the United Brethren church at Providence, remaining a faithful member until about five years ago, when she united with the M.E. church at Hanley, and has lived a consistent Christian ever since; always attended church whenever her health would permit. In sickness, she was always thinking of the comfort of others. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Rebekah lodges.

She leaves to mourn her death a loving husband, step mother, four sisters, four brothers, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
