Tuesday, August 24, 2010Rodney K.Loomis, 53, of Creston, died Aug. 18, 2010, at his home in Creston.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24 at the Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 25 and 34. The Rev. Jim Morris will officiate. Burial will be private at Winterset Cemetery. Open visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. today, and a reception 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, before the service. Memorials are to be established in his name.

Rodney K. Loomis, 53, of Creston, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at his home in Creston. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the Powers Funeral Home junction of highways 25 and 34 in Creston. Pastor Jim Morris will officiate. Burial will be private at Winterset Cemetery in Winterset. Open visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Monday, at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, and a reception from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, before the service. Memorials are to be established in his name.Rodney K. Loomis, son of Shirley A. (Harpole) Loomis and Kenneth W. Loomis, was born on May 9, 1957 in Winterset, Iowa. He was educated at the East Union High School in Afton. Rod lived the majority of his life in the Creston and Afton areas working on the family farm near Afton. Later he was self employed doing custom baling and combining, also cutting and selling firewood.
Survivors include his parents Kenneth and Shirley Loomis of Afton; two brothers, Steve Loomis of Afton and Gary Loomis (special friend Dorie Dibel) of Afton; four nieces and nephews; one great-niece and one great-nephew.
