Mary E. Ladd was born in Virginia, June 11, 1827 and died Oct. 4, 1911. She moved with her parents to Ohio, when a child, and on August 23rd, 1848 was married to Elihu B. Stanley.

To this worthy couple were born eight children, the two oldest having died in Earlham a few years ago and a little daughter in infancy. P. L., A. R., T. E. Stanley, Olive A. Hockett, and May E. Brogan, and a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren are left to remember a good and kind mother.

She was born and raised a Friend to which faith she remained to the end which was very peaceful and resigned to her master’s will.
