James Rankin, whose sickness was mentioned in these columns last week, died early Sunday morning. While his sickness had been of a severe nature, he had lately improved and had intended leaving this week to accompany his son, Will, on a visit to his home in Oklahoma. Mr. Rankin was well known and highly respected in the north part of the county where he resided for many years. Since coming to Winterset, he made his home with his sister, Mrs. Susan Lindsey.

Note: Burial was made in the Worthington cemetery.
