FRANKLIN DEETS

Franklin Deets was born April 11, 1840 in Preston county, West Virginia and passed away Sept. 24, 1914, at the home of his son, Charles E. Deets, of near Earlham, Iowa.

He came to Iowa in 1857, and was married to Miss Lovilla Horr April 11, 1861. To this union eight children were born, of which six and his wife have proceeded him to the better land. The deceased enlisted and served four years in the civil war, being honorably discharged May 28, 1865. He united with the M. E. church of Carlisle, in January 1878, remaining a faithful and constant member to the end. “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from henceforth; yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works follow with them.”

Funeral services were held from the home of his son, Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Walter Weyranch and from the M. E. church of Summerset, Saturday morning, conducted by Rev. Williams of St. Charles. Interment in the Scotch Ridge cemetery north of Summerset.
