MORTUARY - Mary Jane Keener FarrisMary Jane Keener Farris was born in Pennsylvania on Oct. 22, 1826 and died Sept 21, 1914, at the age of 87 years, 10 months, 29 days. In her girlhood she came with her parents to Missouri and from there she came to Iowa in 1849.
She was married Feb. 1, 1849 to Chas. Farris, one of the pioneers of Iowa. He preceeded her in death 15 years ago. She was the mother of ten children, four of whom died in infancy. The living are Mrs. Alfred Higgs, Mrs. Alfred Cox, Mrs. Seth Brittain and C. L., all of this county; F. D. of Osmond, Nebr., Albert M. Des Moines and Mrs. N. J. Madison of Orient, a step daughter.
She joined the Church of Christ early in life and to that church she has adhered through cloud and sunshine. Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ in Patterson, Thursday, Sept. 24th, conducted by Rev. L. F. Davis. Interment west of Patterson.
