Wm. Farr, an old settler, died at his home south of town on the 19th, and was buried in the Ebenezer cemetery on the 20th. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Corkill.

Obituary

William Farr was born in Highland county, Ohio, Sept. 4, 1830 and died in Madison county, Iowa, May 19, 1911, aged 81 years, 8 months and 15 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Eliza Mackey at the age of 29. To this union twelve children were born, seven sons and five daughters, of whom there are two daughters and five sons living. They are Alfred of Red Oak, Robert of New Virginia, John of Peru, Emerson and Walter who live on the homestead south of Peru, and Charles of Murray, Mrs. Anna Hilton of Kansas and Mary Ellen Barnard of ---------, Iowa. They moved to Marion county, Iowa and lived there until the year 1862, when he enlisted in the 40th Iowa Volunteer Infantry Co. A. At this time his wife and children went to Highland county, Ohio. After he was mustered out of the service, in 1865 he returned to them. They then came to Madison county and settled on the farm south of Peru, where he has lived ever since. His wife departed this life on June 6, 1909 and since then he has lived with his sons, Emerson and Walter on the home farm.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Corkill, pastor of the Peru M. E. church at the school house near the home at 11 a.m., May 20, 1911, after which he was laid to rest by the side of his wife in the Ebenezer cemetery.
