Death of T. D. Simons

Theodocius Simons was born Nov. 26, 1834 in Noble county, Ohio, near Colville and died in Winterset, Iowa, May 7th, 1911 at the age of 76 years. In 1856, he was married to Rebecca J. Eicher to which union were born 7 children, five girls and two boys.

In 1866, he came to Iowa and located near Palmyra, which he made his home until ten years ago, when he came to Winterset and remained here until his death.

In 1871 he was converted and he united with the M.E. church and has continued a faithful follower of his Lord until death. Six of the children were present at the funeral, four daughters: Mrs. Al McVey of Fredrick, Okla.; Mrs. N. H. Perry of Ackworth, Iowa; Mrs. L. Gates of Lothrop; Mrs. John Shephard and Mrs. Leroy Thompson of Winterset, and two sons, C. R. Simons of Elliot, N. D. and John of Jackson township, in this county. One brother, Addison Simons of Seneca, Kansas, a grandson Arthur Perry and family of Ackworth and Messers. McVey, Perry and Gates were also here.

A short service was held at the home at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Walburn. The body was taken to Indianola Thursday, where interment was made.
