Mrs. May E. Hoxie, a resident of Winterset for most of her life, died here Friday, Aug. 11, 1961. She was 89 years of age.
Mrs. Hoxie was born in Madison county May 5, 1872. She was married here in 1891 to Isaac T. Hoxie, and they went to Lincoln, Neb., to make their home. They lived in Lincoln until 1908, when they returned to Winterset. Her home had been here since that time.
She was a member of the Winterset Methodist church.
Mrs. Hoxie's husband died in 1931. She leaves two sons, Lloyd Hoxie of Winterset and Don L. Hoxie of Omaha; a daughter, Mrs. Grover Jordan of Downey, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Collins Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. John C. Porath, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
