Edgar R. Coghlan, a lifetime resident of Madison County, died at Veteran's Hospital in Des Moines this Monday, February 10, 1975. He was 54 years of age.
Edgar Rolin Coghlan was born at Peru on October 9, 1920, the son of Arnold Edgar and Erona Lilley Coghlan. He was married to Emily Elizabeth Benge at Winterset on December 14, 1946.
A world War II veteran, Mr. Coghlan had been employed as an auto mechanic for Lloyd Mason, Bell Motor, Reed Motor and Kirkland Motor. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda Irene Still of Carroll, Lana Elizabeth Coghlan of Nevada, Rita Rose Winefeldt of Perry, and Loretta Lavon Coghlan of Winterset. Also surviving are four grandchildren; four brothers, Maurice and Marion of Winterset, Curtis of Creston and Lowell of Johnson City, Kansas; and a sister, Rosemary Adams of Ames.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 1975 at the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, with the Rev. Paul Bousfield officiating. Burial, with military graveside services by the V.F.W. will be in the Winterset Cemetery.
