Mildred I. Cleland of rural Winterset, a lifetime resident of Madison County, died at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines last Thursday, January 30, 1975. She was 50 years of age.
Mildred Irene Cleland was born at Earlham on June 30, 1924, the daughter of Dempsey and Blanche Stephenson Wilson. She was married to John Cleland at Indianola on December l7, 1962.
Survivors include her husband, John, and five children: Terry Dean Cleland of Winterset, Mrs. James (Linda) Kilmer of Adel, Donald Roy Folck of Winterset, Mrs. Roy (Dorothy Lucille) Myers of Truro, and Marvin Eugene Folck of Winterset. Also surviving are six step-children: Dwight Cleland of Des Moines, Mrs. Gary Tjarks of Winterset, Mrs. Harold Hathaway of Altoona, Mrs. Butch Pearson of Winterset, and Mrs. Darwin Lynam of Des Moines, and Carolyn Cleland of Patterson.
Other survivors include six grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Charles Downard of Des Moines; two brothers, Earl Wilson of Des Moines and Virgil Wilson of Fort Dodge; and her mother, Mrs. Royal (Blanche) Compton of Winterset.
Mrs. Cleland was preceded in death by her father, one son and one grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 1 at the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, with the Rev. Eldon Ringle officiating. Burial was in the St. Charles Cemetery at St. Charles.
