Dec. 22, 1930 - June 12, 2010Rosie Ham of Warsaw, Mo., died June 12, 2010, in a Kansas City hospital of complications from surgery.
Rosie is survived by her longtime companion, Jack Burkhead. She left a large family of five children: Charlene (Mike) Craig, Clinton (Joyce) Ham, John Ham, Marten (Sheryl) Ham, and Glenn (Chris) Ham; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Her parents, brother, and sister preceded her in death.
Rosie enjoyed a full life. Besides raising her family on a farm, she trained and rode horses; carved beautiful leather products; played piano and sang in several country western bands over the years and up until the time of her death; crocheted afghans for all family occasions, and, yes, 30 baby goat sweaters; enjoyed fishing; and won blue ribbons for her woodburning pictures. Rosie graduated from Winterset Schools in 1948. She completed LPN training and worked in Winterset, Iowa, and Warsaw, Mo., nursing homes.
Celebrations of her life will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at the American Legion in Warsaw and Sunday, Aug. 1, from 1–2 p.m. at the north shelter house in Winterset City Park. Family will be in attendance. No flowers, please. All cash donations will be used to set up a one-time scholarship for a second career in nursing at SWCC in Creston.
Rosie was a unique woman, and she will be missed by all.
