KEN SINNWELL, Winterset

Ken Sinnwell, 59, died June 28, 2010, of injuries sustained in an ATV accident.

Services were held Friday, July 2, at Sacred Heart Church, West Des Moines. Burial was at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter.

Ken was born Dec. 31,1950, in New Hampton, the son of Felipa and Ray Sinnwell. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1970 and served as a Marine in Vietnam from 1971 to 1972. On April 23, 1977, he married Willie Farmer in Des Moines, Iowa. Ken retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years of service and having served as president of the letter carriers’ union for several years.

Ken is survived by his wife, Willie; daughter, Erin; son, Eric; mother, Felipa Sinnwell; three sisters, Dianne Sinnwell, Cathy Brown (Jerry), and Theresa Sheerin; six brothers, Ron Sinnwell (Debbie), Phillip (Karen), Don (Kathy), David (Pam), Larry (Nancy), and Joe (Tracey); mother-in-law, Shirley Farmer; brother-in-law, Nick; sister-in-law, Tracy (David) Mixon; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray, and brother, Dennis.

Arrangements were handled by Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity in Ken’s name.
