Carol Burton was born to Homer & Fannie (Reck) Bruner August 8, 1920 in Davies County, MO and passed away June 7, 2010.
She was the seventh child of 15. After her mother's death in 1936 Carol became the caregiver to her younger siblings. A duty she gladly carried out until her marriage to Cliff Burton April 21, 1940.
The family moved to Earlham in 1950 where Carol resided for the next 58 years until moving to Stuart. During that time Carol worked for Meridith Publishing where she made many friends before retiring in 1985. Carol enjoyed gardening, playing cards and visiting with family and friends. Especially her dear friend Delbert Holloway, who survives.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Cliff, her daughter Phyllis Jobst, six brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her son Rex (Micki) Burton of Polk City; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one sister, five brothers as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham, where the family will greet friends 1 hour prior to the service.

Wednesday, June 16, 2010Carol Burton was born to Homer and Fannie (Reck) Bruner August 8, 1920 in Davies County, Missouri and passed away June 7, 2010. She was the 7th child of 15. After her mother’s death in 1936 Carol became the caregiver to her younger siblings. A duty she gladly carried out until shortly before her marriage to Cliff Burton on April 21, 1940. They were the proud parents of two children. Cliff and Carol were able to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary before Cliff died in 1998.
The family moved to Earlham in 1950 where Carol resided for the next 58 years until moving to Stuart. During this time Carol worked for Meredith Publishing where she made many friends before retiring in 1985.
Carol enjoyed gardening, playing cards and visiting friends, especially her dear friend Delbert Holloway, who survives.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cliff, her daughter and son-in-law Phyllis and Ken Jobst, 6 brothers: Vern, Olen, Homer, Lowell, Miles and Wendell and 2 sisters Georgia Hale and Ruth Hutchinson.
She is survived by her son Rex and wife Micki; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. They are: Mechelle (Jeff) Lowmiller and their children Ryan and Danielle; Brian (Alicia) Burton and their daughter Brianna; Renee (Blair) Dewey and their daughter Allison; Brant Burton; Julie (Mick) Merritt and their children Kayla and Brandon; and Brad Burton. She is further survived by her sister Myrtle Redd and brothers: Joe Dean (Doris), John (Carol), Gayle (Harriet), Roger (Brenda) and Lee (Vivian as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday June 9 at Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham. Pastor Robert Waldron officiated. Special music was “Amazing Grace” and “Shall We Gather By the River.” Pallbearers were Brian Burton, Brant Burton, Brad Burton, Jeff Lowmiller, Blair Dewey and Mick Merritt. Interment was at Earlham Cemetery in Earlham.
