BENTLEY EMMETT DEMARS, Meadowlakes, Tx

Bentley E. DeMars, formerly of Winterset, passed away May 26 at his home surrounded by loving family.

He was born in Royal on September 19, 1929, to Bentley A. and Marg. (Jones) DeMars. His family moved to Charles City in 1944, where he graduated from high school. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1949 and completed navigation school. During the Korean War he was awarded the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He served in flying reserve units until 1967. He received a BS in accounting from MN State University and an MBA from Drake. He retired as the Chief Financial Officer of Triple "F" Inc. of Des Moines. He continued his love of golf, woodworking, and antiques in his retirement. As a Second Lieutenant he married Marilyn Mayfield on May 6, 1951. Fifty-nine years of the joy in marriage followed. From their union came children: Jannine Cody, Chris (Jon) Victorsen, Paul (Lari) and Lisa DeMars; and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Phyllis McCall, of Spirit Lake.
