Obituary of Mrs. A. C. Krell

Christina A. Schnelbacher was born in Germany, September 20th, 1833, and died at the home of her son, C. A. Krell in Omaha, Oct. 17th, 1910. She came to this country with her parents when a girl eight years of age. She was a splendid specimen of that sturdy german stock which has contributed so much by the way of character toward the greatness of this nation in these latter days.

In 1852 she was married to A. C. Krell in Ohio. A few years later Mrs. Krell and husband left Ohio and settled in Webster township of this county where they broke out a farm and made a nice and comfortable home for themselves. To this union five children were born, one daughter who died in infancy and four sons, Rev. Samuel Krell and L. H. Krell, both deceased, and W. T. Krell, of Des Moines, and Clifton A. Krell, of Omaha, Nebr.

On leaving the farm they made their home in Creston, here her husband died and past to his reward. After the death of her husband she moved with her son, C. A. to Omaha, where she has lived for the last nine years highly valued and greatly beloved by all who knew her because of her sterling virtues and Godly Christian character. She was converted when nine years of age and united with the German Evangelical Association church, which were the pioneers of southeastern Ohio and were noted for piety and true man and womanhood and were an inspiration to the community. About twenty-five years ago she united with the M. E. church and at the time of death was a member of Trinity M. E. church, of Kountz place Omaha.

Those who were fortunate enough to form her acquaintance found her to be a cheerful sunny soul whom to know was to love and respect for her goodness of heart and Christian graces.

She selected her own funeral text, the one she knew by experience. “I know that my redeemer liveth.”

Note: Burial was made in the Pleasant View cemetery. Transcribed as published, maiden name is "Schnellbacher".
