FALL FROM BUGGY FATAL

Horses Frighten at Automobile and Mrs. August Ziemann is Fatally Injured

Mrs. August Ziemann of Jefferson township, was thrown from a buggy, yesterday while on the road to Van Meter, and sustained injuries from which she died a few hours later.

Marshall J. W. Eldridge, Will Furrow and Orville Van Hosen were returning form Van Meter where they had gone in search of the prisoners who broke jail the night before, when they met Mrs. August Ziemann and daughter who were on their way to Van Meter. The team which has heretofore been considered perfectly reliable, frightened at the auto. Mr. Eldridge led them by the auto and after plunging for a short distance, he succeeded in stopping them. In some manner, Mrs. Ziemann lost her balance and fell from the spring wagon, one wheel passing over her chest.

She did not regard her injuries as serious and drove on to Van Meter with Nelson Brooker's team, Mr. Brooker having driven up at the time of the accident. After reaching Van Meter, she felt worse and called on a physician, who gave her medicine. Mrs. Ziemann then proceeded to do her trading, but before long she took much worse and returned to the doctor's office where she died a few minutes later.

The Ziemanns are old residents in the south part of Jefferson township and are highly respected people. no blame is attached to the driver of the auto as every precaution was taken to avoid an accident.
