Obituary of Mott Foresman

James Mortimer Foresman was born in Winterset, Sept. 9, 1886 and died at his home in the south part of town July 29, 1910, aged 23 years, ten months and 20 days.

He grew to manhood in this city, receiving his education from the public schools from which he graduated in 1906. In the spring of 1910 he was graduated from the School of Pharmacy of the Northwestern University. He was a member of no fraternal organization excepting the Iowa National Guards, and had recently received notice of his promotion to the rank of sergeant. Early in life he united with the M.E. Church and Epworth League of this place. He took an active interest in the affairs of life, was faithful to his friends and his church, and was a model son and brother.

The funeral was held from the home Sunday at 1:00 o’clock conducted by Rev. Walburn. The remains were escorted to the cemetery by Co. Y., I. N. G. and a large number of friends. The Company held services at the cemetery conducted by Chaplain Walburn, taps was sounded, a volley was fired and he was laid to his last rest with military honors.

Obituary.

James Mortlmer Foresman was born in Winterset, September 9, 1886. He grew to manhood in this place and attended the public schools from which he graduated in 1906. In the spring of 1910 he was graduated from the School of Pharmacy of Northwestern university. He passed the pharmacy examination before the state boards in Iowa and Illinois successfully. For four years he was employed by the Wilhelm Drug Co. Less than two months ago he went to Valley Junction work for the Carmody Drug Co., and while there was stricken with typhoid fever. He came home and after a week of suffering, died July 20.

He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Foresman, three sisters, Mrs. Vina Hartsook, Mrs Beatrice Speers and Mrs. Gertrude Warner and one brother, Robert.

He was a member of Co. G., I. N. G, of which he had recently been appointed seargent. He had planned to go with his company to the encampment at Sparta, Wisconsin.

At an early age he united with the M. E. church and Epworth League of this place, and he was rarely absent from services while it was possible for him to attend. He was of a very retiring disposition, and few outside the home circle, knew of his efforts and enthusiasms. He took an active interest in the affairs of life. He was faithful to his church and to his friends, and he was a model son and brother.

Death Of Mott Foresman

Mott Foresman, the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. James Foresman of this place, died last Friday morning after a short illness from typhoid fever.

Mr. Foresman recently completed a pharmaceutical course at a Chicago University and recently passed a successful examination for admission to practice pharmacy in this state. His certificate of admission was received on the day of his death.

He was a most exemplary young man with bright prospects for a successful career in life. The sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved family.
