DARLENE WALKER, St Charles

Darlene Walker, 79, of St. Charles died May 16, 2010, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

Graveside services were held today (Wednesday, May 19) at St. Charles Cemetery with Pastor Doug Helton officiating. Memorials given to her family will be used for a future designation. Arrangements were handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.

Darlene Walker was born Dec. 12, 1930, in Redfield to Arthur and Ethel (Chase) Stump. Her marriage to Thomas Henry Walker took place Nov. 8, 1948, in St. Charles. Darlene, a resident of the St. Charles area since she was 9 years old, was a homemaker, cake decorator, and dog breeder. She attended the St. Charles Parish Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Karen Rose Walker; five brothers — Art Stump, Lloyd Stump, Gerald Stump, Dale Stump, and Harold Gene Stump; three sisters — Opal Sinclair, Odean McKnight, and Helen Jean Stump; and a granddaughter, Kinze.

She is survived by her husband, Tom, of St. Charles; her children — Sandra Lou Bush of Winterset, Connie Jean Thomas of Des Moines, Linda Dianne Clay of Green Castle, Mo., Shelly Janine McCullough of Leon, Amy Irene Dalton of Osceola, and Thomas Henry Walker Jr., Carmen Carlotta Maxwell, John Arthur Walker, and Don Ray Walker, all of St. Charles; two brothers, Marion Neal Stump of Osceola and Earnest Lyle Stump of Granger; and 25 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
