MAXINE WILSON, St Charles

Maxine J. Wilson, 90, of St. Charles died May 12, 2010, at Winterset Care Center South.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 14, at St. Charles Parish Church. Burial was at St. Charles Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to her family or St. Charles Parish. Arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Homes of Osceola and Truro.

Maxine Wilson was born July 14, 1919, in Winterset to Fred Ray and Beulah (Holmes) Jones. She attended Scott Country School and graduated from Winterset High School. Her marriage to Roy Donovan Wilson took place March 20, 1938, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. A lifetime resident of Madison County, Maxine was a member of the St. Charles Disciples of Christ Church, St. Charles Parish Church, CWF, and Parish Women United. She also was a 50-year member of Model Chapter 174 O.E.S., past president of Past Matrons, served on a committee for special needs children for many years, and organized the first fund-drive for Madison County in 1955. She and R.D. were Madison County Covered Bridge Festival King and Queen in 1989 and St. Charles Old Settlers King and Queen in 1994.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters, Lois Banta, Pauline Bulwan, and Winnie Mahan; and a grandson, Chris Bichel.

She is survived by her children — Jean Jones of Frisco, Texas, Jane Miller of Altoona, Doug Wilson of Shawano, Wis., and Kathy Jo Ordway of St. Charles; and 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
