Mrs. Melvin James died at her home on James Creek, Wednesday night, after an illness of several weeks, and two little ones are left motherless, to get through life without a mother’s care and advice. Mr. and Mrs. James were one time neighbors of ours and we found Mrs. James an excellent neighbor. Her funeral was held from Union Chapel today (Friday) and interment in Union cemetery. A sketch of her live is handed us, which reads as follows:

Daisy Dora Lee was born November 20, 1879, in Madison county, Iowa living in this county all her life. Died at her home on Jones creek May 23, 1910.

She was married to Melvin W. James July 20th 1898 and to their union two children were born. Audrey Marge aged 11 years, and Corbin Lee, aged 9 years.

She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, two children, two sisters, father and her husband’s father, who had been all of a father to her, an aunt, Mrs. Joe Ray, her Godmother who raised her from infancy, her mother having died.

She was a good wife, a devoted, kind and loving mother. When told she could not live and asked to pray for herself, she answered: “I have prayed and am willing to go. I am not afraid to die.” We have lost one of our finest, sweetest American mothers.
