Member of Pioneer Family in Crawford Township Succumbs
Mrs. Emma Handy, member of a pioneer Crawford township family, died at her home in Winterset, Dec. 18, after an extended illness. She was 90 years of age.
Mrs. Handy was the former Mary Emma Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Davis, and was born in Pittsburg, Pa. Her husband, the late Albert W. Handy preceded her in death, as did seven of her children.
She leaves two sons, Russell and Joseph Handy; a sister, Mrs. Ida Crawford of Winterset; and a number of grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Dec. 21 from the Anderson home for funerals, in charge of the Rev. Larry Morrison, pastor of the Winterset Foursquare church. Burial was made in the Montpelier cemetery near Patterson.
