John Kiernan, known as Jack, of Holyoke, CO, passed at the age of 72 into the Lord's hands early May 9, 2010. Visitation will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.with a wake service at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 13 at Caldwell-Raddatz Funeral Home, 8201 Hickman Road, Urbandale, IA. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 14, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Cumming, IA. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
Jack was born May 14, 1937 in Des Moines to John and Alice (Watts) Kiernan and was raised on the family farm near Booneville, IA. He was a graduate of Dowling High School, class of 1955, and moved to Colorado in 1973 to pursue a career in real estate. He had many interests including sales, home remodeling, construction, landscaping, and classic cars.
He was very well known and liked by those in his community and made new friends with ease. John was a hard worker, meticulous, organized and was a true 'news freak'.
He is survived by his loving wife, JoAnne (Jones) Kiernan; children, Brian, Anne, Mark, Tim, and Lynn; step-children, Debra, Sonya, Shirley, Marcia, Billy, and Janet; 13 grandchildren, and 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Rev. James, Tom, Gary, and Mary Beth. He will be missed by his dog, Charlie. He is loved and will be missed by many!!!
