NORMA MAE DAY, Harlingen, Texas

Norma Day passed away April 23, 2010, in Denver, Colo.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 27, at the Highland Mortuary Chapel in Thornton, Colo. Interment was in Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria, Texas.

Norma was born in Peru, Iowa, on March 2, 1921, to Ratis and Glee (Warren) Hircock and grew up there. On Oct. 13, 1937, she married Lyle Day in Winterset, Iowa, and together they were married 61 years and were blessed with three daughters — Barbara, Kay and Linda.

Norma lived in Winterset until 1955 when she and Lyle moved to Denver. She worked at St. Anthony’s Hospital for several years, but loved working in her yard with her flowers. They loved to travel in their RV, visiting most everything from the East to the West Coast. Norma also was a very good cook and Christmas was very important to her, having all of her family there with her. But most of all, she loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In 1980, she and Lyle retired to Harlingen, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle; four sons-in-law, Ray Roland, Dick Popish, Bill Houck and Harold Lambert; her parents, Ratis and Glee Hircock; two sisters, Ethel McMains and Jean Jeffs; and two brothers, Delbert and Bill Hircock.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughters, Barbara Stefanski, Kay Roland and Linda Lambert; her son-in-law, Leonard Stefanski; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jean Thompson of Lafayette, Colo.; a brother-in-law, Jack Jeffs of Winterset, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
