Obituary

Sarah Gutshall was born in Harrison county, Ohio, Dec. 10, 1843, and died Jan. 29, 1910, age 66 years.

At the age of eleven she came to Iowa with her parents and lived for a short time near Des Moines, from there they came to Madison county and have lived near the present home ever since.

She was married to Samuel Cutshall, Dec. 11, 1870. To this union were born six children, four sons and two daughters, one of the daughters, Neva, died in 1884, at the age of three years. The living children are, John W., William H., George A., Perrie and Mrs. J. E. Sheets, all of Van Meter, Ia. She lived a Christian life 45 years and died in the faith of God. She loved life, and would have been glad to remain with her loved ones longer, but she said, “If it was God’s will, she was ready to go and dwell with Him.” She was a kind wife, a loving mother and a good neighbor.

The funeral services was conducted by her pastor Rev. Hosier at the U.B. Chapel and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near the Chapel to await the final summon of all who have departed this life. She will be greatly missed, not only by the immediate family, but by the church and all of her neighbors.

May the Lord bless and sustain the bereaved husband, children and relatives in their great loss, may they trust fully in Him, whom she loved and found so much comfort and strength.

Note: Burial was made in the Union Chapel-Jefferson township cemetery.
