Death of Mrs. Jennie P. Benson

Mrs. Jennie Benson died Monday morning at four o’clock at the home of her son, N. W. Benson, after an illness of a few weeks. Jennie Parish Benson was born in Crawfordsville, Washington county, Iowa, Dec. 13, 1836, and died at Winterset, Iowa, July 19, 1909. She was united in marriage to Mr. Benson in 1853 and to this union 12 children were born, four girls and eight boys, two daughters and one son preceding her to the better world.

She came to Madison county in 1870 and removed to Giltner, Nebr. in 1881 where she has since made her home. She arrived here about six weeks ago for a visit with her son and shortly afterwards was taken to her bed with her last illness. Short services were held at the home of her son Monday afternoon and the remains were taken to Giltner, Nebr. where she was laid to her last rest beside her husband who preceded her to the better land in 1905. The bereaved relatives have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community.
