Word was received here late Saturday evening of the death of Wood Dowler of this place. We understand he was killed in an accident with a wagon.

The body will be taken Tuesday morning to East Peru, Ia., for interment.

J. W. Dowler Former Resident of Madison County, is Killed at Valley Junction.
J. W. Dowler, well and favorably known in the south part of the county, was instantly killed at Valley Junction last Saturday evening about 5 o’clock p. m. He was engaged in the oil business and went to the coal chute on the day mentioned, to collect a bill. In passing through a narrow entry he met a man going the other way and in order to let him pass, was crowded to one side of the entry and his clothes became entangled in some machinery and the life was crushed out of him and the body was disfigured beyond recognition.
Mr. Dowler was the son of Wilbur Dowler of Walnut township; he was 33 years old and had a family consisting of a wife and three children.
The remains were brought to Peru and the funeral occurred at the Methodist church on Tuesday. Rev. Mr. Corkhill conducted the services and burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
