Page 3Brought Here for Burial
The remains of Mrs. Julia A. Merrell who died at the home of her daughter in Pittsburg, Pa., on January 19th, arrived here Monday for burial. They were accompanied by her son-in-law, Homer Stout, and his son Howard. Mrs. Merrell was an old resident of Winterset, coming here in the early seventies and making this place her home until about five years ago when she went to live with her daughter at Pittsburg. The heartfelt sympathy of her many friends is extended to the bereaved relatives. The funeral was held at the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Bishop, Monday afternoon and she was laid to her last rest in Rock City cemetery.
She was born in Ohio March 4th, 1833. She united with the Methodist church at the age of thirteen, and all through the long years of sickness she always had great faith in God, bearing her physical infirmities and suffering with uncomplaining patience and with a trust in the promises of her Heavenly Father.
She died Wednesday evening at 9:30. At 8 o’clock she prayed or rather talked with God. Just before she became unconscious and half an hour before she passed away she prayed “Lord lift this burden from me.” “He giveth and He taketh away.” “He is my support.”
