Nelson McKibban Dies At 78 Years -

Nelson J. McKibban of Winterset, a lifetime resident of Madison county, died October 23 at Memorial Hospital here. He was 78 years of age. Mr. McKibban was born in Lincoln township, December 13, 1893, a son of James and Sarah Rippey McKibban.

He served in the U.S. armed forces during World War I and was a member of the American Legion.

During most of his life he engaged in farming, but for the past 20 years he served as custodian for the Union State bank in Winterset.

He was married at Winterset on May 31, 1924 to Neva Felton who survives him. He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Forsyth, of Winterset; a son, Lloyd McKibban of Greenfield; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; a brother, Lee McKibban, of Erie, Pa.; and three sisters, Lucille and Marjorie McKibban, of Des Moines, and Mrs. Ethel Hess of Rochester, Minn.

Funeral services were to be held at 1:30 p.m. this Wednesday from the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, conducted by Rev. Newton Coughenour, pastor of the First United Methodist church of Winterset.

Burial was made at the Clark cemetery in Monroe township with military honors by Green-Rogers post of the American Legion.
