Barney News

On Tuesday, Jan. 5th, Mrs. Nancy Palmer passed away at her home near Lorimor. She had been an invalid for about twenty one years, so the summons did not come unexpectedly.

The funeral was held at the home Thursday and she was laid to rest in the Barney cemetery. We extend our sympathy to the children in their bereavement.

Mrs. Nancy Elizabeth Palmer

Nancy Elizabeth Hale was born near Knoxville, Tennessee, November 10, 1848, and departed this life near Lorimor, Iowa, January 6, 1914, at the age of 65 years, 1 month and 26 days.

She was married to M. O. Palmer, June 27, 1874. To this union were born four children, Julia, Mabel, Cecil, and George, the two sons last named living with and caring for their mother until her death. Julia’s home is near Barney and Mabel, the second daughter, died at the age of 15 years on April 14, 1896. The husband and father passed to the great beyond May 25, 1911.

Besides one sister and two brothers and other relatives, Aunt Nancy leaves to mourn her loss many sympathizing friends, having lived in Madison county for forty years and been an invalid for about 20 years, an example of fortitude and patience and cheerfulness through all,
