Homer D. Brown was born in Madison county, Iowa, Feb 9, 1873 and died at Truro, Dec. 28, 1913, age 40 years, 10 months and 9 days.
When he was but a few months old, his parents moved to a farm near Prole. Some years after, they moved to Indianola, where Homer finished high school and then entered Simpson college, taking a commercial course. In 1898, he came to Truro and engaged in the jewelry business and became postmaster June 24, 1907, and has held that office ever since, in which he was very capable and attentive, and as everyone acquainted with him knows, that in business capacity, he was a success.
He was married on June 25, 1902 to Bradie J. Creger. To this union, one child, Samuel Kenneth, was born, who is ten years of age.
He was converted and joined the M. E. church of Truro under the pastoral of Rev. L. H. Carpenter, of which he has been a faithful member. In February, last, he broke down with nervous prostration and has ever since been a constant sufferer, being confined to his bed. He always expressed a desire to depart and be at rest and at the last he told his beloved companion he was passing over, and bade her good bye, and then as the boatman silently rowed away, he departed to the other shore and thus ends a useful and noble life.
Words fail us in expressing the loving care and attention of his devoted wife in this, her great trial and sorrow. He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, one son, two sisters, two brothers and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral was held on Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the M. E. church, conducted by his former pastor, Rev. C. K. Corkill of Lineville, assisted by the pastor, Rev. Stevenson. The body was laid to rest in the Young cemetery.
