Page 3Death of Jessie Leech
Last Saturday afternoon, March 27th, at about six o’clock occurred the death of Miss Jessie Leech from pneumonia, after an illness of just one week. She took a severe cold the Saturday previous which rapidly developed into pneumonia with alarming symptoms. Everything that could possibly be done for her relief was done but to no purpose, and she gradually grew worse until the end which came on Saturday evening.
Jessie Odella Leech was born in Winterset, April 12, 1873. Her entire life was spent in this city and is known to us all. She received her education in the Winterset schools, graduating from the high school in the class of 1891. She has always been what is known as a home girl, entirely devoted to home. Since the death of her mother which occurred about four years ago, she has been the main-stay of the family, upon her shoulders has fallen the care of the household and her efficiency and faithfulness is a matter of common knowledge. She was very popular among her associates and will be deeply mourned by them.
The funeral services were held from the home on Court Avenue Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. J. H. White, and the remains were interred in the family lot in the city cemetery.

Page 1Miss Jessie, the second daughter of Robert L. Leech died last Saturday, after an illness of just one week with pneumonia. Everything possible was done from the first, by skilled and loving hands to check and stay the suffering with its dread results, but in vain. Perfectly reconciled and ready for the change from then to eternity, free from suffering, she quietly fell asleep. Preceded some four years by her mother in to the Father’s house, with them her unfinished life will become a finished one. Her death is the occasion of sorrow in many homes, for she was widely known and held in high esteem.
Winterset has always been her home, she was born and raised here, graduating from the high school in the class of 1891. Hers has always been the quiet home life, especially since her mother’s death and only those who know her best, know how faithfully and well she has borne the added responsibilities and has tried to be the home-keeper and homemaker.
The funeral services were held from the home on Tuesday afternoon conducted by the Rev. J. H. White of the United Presbyterian church. Beautiful and profuse floral decorations were testimonies of the esteem in which she ----------------- sympathy which so many friends would extend the members of the family.
