Wednesday, June 9, 1971RALPH L. HUTCHINSON Dies at Truro
Ralph L. Hutchinson, a life-long resident of Truro and a leading citizen in that community for most of his life, died Thursday, June 3, 1971, at his home in Truro. He was 68 years of age.
Mr. Hutchinson had operated a variety store in Truro since 1965, but had sold and disposed of that property only the day before his death.
He had retired in 1965 after many years of service with the Natural Gas Pipeline company at Truro.
Mr. Hutchinson was born in Truro June 3, 1903, a son of James A. and Hattie Miller Hutchinson, and graduated from Truro High school with the class of 1920.
He was married in November, 1927, to Velma Campfield. Her death occurred in 1950. His second marriage occurred Sept. 1, 1951 to Mary Alice Swan, who survives him.
Mr. Hutchinson served as town clerk at Truro for 30 years. He also had served as mayor of Truro, and at the time of his death was a member of the town council. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star at Truro, and the Scottish Rite consistory in Des Moines. His church membership was with the Truro United Methodist church.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two brothers, Merrill Hutchinson of Truro and Jim Hutchinson of Cincinnati, O.; and four step-children, William D. Swan of Vancouver, Wash., Mrs. Carl Beeler of Truro, Mrs. Larry Beeler of Peru, and Ed Swan of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Kale Funeral home in Truro, conducted by the Rev. Richard Hempenius of Truro. Burial was made in Young's cemetery at Truro.
