JOHN WILLIAM WEAVER

John William Weaver was born in Page county, Virginia, Jan. 29, 1847, where he lived on a farm with his parents until 1872 when he came to Madison county, Iowa. The following year he was married to Arminda Eppard, to which union ten children were born, two sons and eight daughters; they are Mrs. Nora Eling, Charley, Mrs. Myrtle Templeman, Mrs. Maggie Straub, Mrs. Daisy Stron, Mrs. Ida Bennett, Sadie, Ethel, Ralph and Verdie, all of whom were present except Mrs. Straub of Durango, Colo.

He also leaves to mourn his loss a wife, nine grandchildren, three brothers and four sisters: Charlie, Paul and Saul, Mrs. Betty Eppard and Mrs. Sarah Meadows of Virginia, and Mrs. Andrew Eppard and Mrs. Laura Young of Iowa.

He departed this life June 13, 1914, aged 67 years, 4 months and 15 days. He was a man of the rugged pioneer type, a true and devoted husband, kind and generous father, and a faithful friend who prized honor above all things, always ready to help those in need. He will be mourned by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held at the home conducted by Rev. Stribling of Earlham and interment in the Jackson township cemetery. (Eppard-Pitzer)

JOHN WILLIAM WEAVER

J. W. Weaver, died at his home northeast of Pitzer, June 13th, 1914, age 67 years, 5 months and 14 days. Mr. Weaver was born in Virginia, moving to Iowa in 1872. He was united in marriage to Miss Arminda Eppard June 3, 1873, who survives him. To this union ten children were born, two sons and eight daughters, all of whom are living. Mrs. M. V. Eling, , Mrs. Myrtle Templeman, Mrs. C. R. Bennett of Earlham; Mrs. E. S. Strout, Durango, Colo.; Mrs. Elva Strong of Stuart; Charles, married and lives across the road from the old homestead; Sadie, Ralph, Ethel and Verdie, living at home, and nine grandchildren.

The funeral was held from the home Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Stribling of Earlham conducting the services. The family have the sympathy of their many friends in their sorrow.
