Bernice L. Ford -

Bernice L. Ford, 78, of 509 S.E. Dunham Ave., died of cancer Thursday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, at Southtown Funeral Home, with burial in Elm Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Ford was born in St. Charles, and had lived in Des Moines since 1930. She was a retired waitress for the Embassy Club restaurant and a member of the First Church of the Open Bible.

Survivors include two sons, Tommy and Larry, two daughters, Karen Ford and Mary Quijano, and three brothers, Bernal Lathrum, Clark Lathrum and Charles Lathrum, all of Des Moines; four sisters, Joanna Miller, Garneta Wade, Twyla Milligan, all of Des Moines and Opal Bechtel, of Osakis, Minn.; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Arthritis Foundation.
