Mrs. James Luke Died Last Friday

Mrs. James Luke, of Winterset, a life-time resident of Madison county, died Friday, Dec. 31, at Memorial hospital here. She was 83 years of age.

Mrs. Luke was born at St. Charles Jan. 30, 1888. She was the former Mary Mollie Huglin, daughter of Charles E. and Sophia Schmidt Huglin.

Mrs. Luke was a member of the United Methodist church.

She was married Feb. 22, 1905 to Neal James Luke. His death occurred in 1966.

Surviving are five children, Fern A. Luke, of Orosi, Calif., Mrs. Virgil Wickett, of New Virginia, Mrs. Frank Binder, of St. Charles, Neal Luke, of Lowell, Oregon and Rex Luke of Winterset. She also leaves 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, five brothers, Andrew Huglin, of Winchester, Virginia, Fred Huglin, of Truro, Henry Huglin, of Omaha, Carl Huglin, of Pasadena, Calif. and August, of Winterset, and two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Brown, of Winterset, and Mrs. Daisy Conway, of Whittier, Calif.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Newton Coughenour, pastor of the First United Methodist church here. Burial was made in the Blair Chapel Cemetery near St. Charles.
