ALGENA FOWLER Services Held

Mrs. Algena (Jean) Fowler, 75, of Winterset died at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines last Wednesday, June 19, 1974, following injuries received in a traffic accident June 8.

Mrs. Fowler and her husband, Ray Fowler, were involved in a collision on Highway 169 just south of DeSoto. Both were transferred to Iowa Methodist Hospital after treatment at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Algena Wynona Brown Fowler was born at Kellogg, Iowa on November 15, 1898, the daughter of Westley and Jane Adkens Brown. She was married to Raymond Earl Fowler at Winterset on June 23, 1917.

Mrs. Fowler had been a resident of Madison County for the past 40 years. She was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church and was active in the Eastern Star and the Madison County Antique Club.

She is survived by two daughters; Patricia Ann Montross of Winterset and Beverly Rae Klingman of LaGrange, Illinois. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, as well as one brother, Frank Brown of Boone, and two sisters: Mrs. Willard Stowe of Sioux City and Mrs. William Dale of Coco Beach Florida.

Preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters, two brothers, and a daughter in infancy.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 22 at the First United Presbyterian Church of Winterset, with Dr. Paul Hann officiating. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.
